The Coming of Silver
By Jenny and Helen

Dulcea looked down at her daughter and smiled. But she couldn't hide the sadness of the truth. No matter how much she loved her, Dulcea knew that she would have to let Casey go. She had promised Zordon that Casey would be there to aid the rangers in battle against Rita's evil sister, Morgan the Enchantress. Morgan was causing more chaos than what Rita and Zedd could've done together.

Dulcea had trained Casey to become a Ninjetti Warrior, so that someday, Casey may take her place as the Master Warrior of Phaedos.

"But Mother, I don't want to go! My place is here, with you, on Phaedos!" Casey protested. Dulcea smiled at her. She knew exactly what Casey is going through. She was the same rebellious little girl when her Mother told her that it was her destiny to become the Master Warrior of Phaedos.

"Let me tell you something Casey." Dulcea began, "I was in the same predicament you are in right now. Believe me, letting you go was not an easy decision for me. I love you very much, and I will until the end of time and beyond. But by letting you go to Earth, you can experience a whole new world of things that you will never ever began to dream about here on Phaedos. When I was a little girl, I begged my Mom to let me stay and not to send me to Phaedos. But in the end, destiny prevailed and I had to go. But you know what? I've never regretted coming here. By coming to Phaedos, it had given me an opportunity that I probably will never be able to have on my home planet. Now, it's time for you to spread your wings and explore the universe around you."

"Will I ever be able to come back to Phaedos?" Casey wondered.

"Once Morgan the Enchantress is beaten, you can come home. But by then, I don't think you'll want to come home. Earth is much more beautiful than Phaedos." replied Dulcea.

"Oh I will come home Mother! How could I ever live without you?" Casey explained.

"Now, go on, gather your things. We shall perform the departing ritual tonight, before you teleport to Earth tomorrow morning." Dulcea instructed, gently urging the still reluctant Casey. Casey looked back at her Mother, and then quickly ran off to their shelter.

Dulcea looked at the stars. Each star glittered and glistened like some kind of diamond in the sky.

"It's time." Dulcea announced.

"Time for what?" Casey asked curiously.

"Time for you to become a full fledged Ninjetti Warrior." Dulcea replied, "Stay here and look into the fire."

Casey stood there, looking into the fire as they danced in the air. The air crackled with excitement.

Dulcea looked at her daughter one more time and remove the pouch from her waist. She removed a little golden dust and whispered, "Within each and everyone of us, there's an animal spirit waiting to be released. Close you eyes and look deep within yourself."

Casey closed her eyes. Dulcea, with the golden dust cupped in her hands, gently blew them into the fire. WHOOSH! The fire erupts into a flame, towering above everything. Suddenly sparkles emanated from the fire. Slowly the sparkles gently wrapped themselves around Casey. A few seconds later, the sparkles dissipated to reveal Casey standing before the fire in a silvery ninja uniform. A hood concealed her whole head except her sparkling brown eyes. The picture of a cheetah on a golden plaque glows brightly on her chest. Dulcea walked over to her daughter as Casey slowly removed the hood. Casey carefully fingered the shape of the cheetah.

"Casey, you are the cheetah, fast and agile," said Dulcea, kissing her daughter on her forehead.

"Oh Mother!" Casey exclaimed, "The power! I feel so alive!" Dulcea smiled at her daughter but said nothing.

"Zordon, Casey is standing for teleport." Dulcea spoke into a small device, which humans would consider as a laptop, but this "laptop" is about 100 years ahead of human technology. Dulcea looked at her daughter one last time. She can feel the tears swell up in her eyes. Dulcea looked away, the last thing her daughter need is to see her Mother cry.

The last thing she heard before Casey teleported away was, "I love you Mother." By now, the tears flowed freely down Dulcea's cheek.

Casey suddenly found herself standing a big blue floating head! Two columns of light stood behind her. Between the columns was a huge white glowing ball sitting on top of a pedestal.

"Greetings. You must be Casey. I am Zordon of Eltare." Zordon's voice boomed throughout the Command Center.

"Um . . . hi." Casey replied uncertainly. She felt ridiculous standing in front of Zordon who is nothing but a giant floating head!

"I have been waiting for you for a long time now. The rangers of Earth need you to help them battle Rita's sister, Morgan the Enchantress." Zordon said calmly.

"So, I guess I did land in the right place huh? My Mother, Dulcea, had made me a Ninjetti Warrior of the cheetah spirit." Casey replied.

A brief smile flashed across Zordon's face. "Very well. But you will give you the Power Coin of the Silver Ninja Ranger. Your animal spirit is the Cheetah, thus making you fast and agile."

Alpha shuffled across the room toward Casey, holding a silver box. Alpha slowly opened the box to reveal a golden coin with the inscription of a speeding cheetah on it.

"Wow!" Casey exclaimed as she slowly reaches in and carefully enclosed the coin. The coin vibrated softly in her hand.

Suddenly, without warning columns of black, pink, white, blue, yellow and red teleported into the Command Center. Casey whirled around in alarm. Standing in front of her was a group of six teenagers about her age.

"Casey, meet the rest of the ranger team." Zordon stated.

"Hi. . . my name is Casey. And yours?" Casey asked, rather timidly.

"I'm Rocky. The Red Ranger" replied the boy in a red T-shirt, smiling brightly.

"I am Aisha. Yellow Ranger" followed the girl in a yellow dress.

"Billy here. It's a pleasure making an acquaintance with you. And um, I'm the Blue Ranger." the boy in blue added, pushing his glasses a little bit higher on the bridge of his nose.

"My name is Tommy. White Ranger. Nice to meet you." Tommy said holding his hand out, which Casey took a bit uncertainly.

"Hi, I'm Kimberly. But, you can call me Kim. I'm the current Pink Ranger." said Kim, her white teeth flashing.

Casey looked at the last member of the team. Her eyes locked onto his. For a few seconds, they just stood there, staring at each other. He suddenly looked away, embarrassed.

"I'm Adam. Current Black Ranger." the Asian boy finished slowly.

"It's a pleasure to meet you all. But I still have one more question. Where am I going to stay while I am on Earth?" Casey asked, turning her attention to Zordon.

"Oh! We have that all planned out. You can stay with me if you like. My Mom and my Stepfather are going to a trip to France for a while. We can have sooo much fun together. We are going to show you around Angel Grove a little later. Just so you can get to know this place better! It's really a nice place to live in, if you just skip the whole monster scenario." Kim quips.

"Casey, here is your communicator." announced Alpha as he walked across the room, holding a silver watch-like object in his robotic hand. "It will serve as a communication device directly to the Command Center or to other Ranger. It will also serve as a teleporter for you to teleport to the Command Center or other places in case of trouble or emergency."

Casey looked at the object and slowly buckled in onto her wrist.

"Also Casey, as to becoming a ranger, there are three basic rules you must follow. One, never use the power for personal purposes. Two, never escalate a fight until forced to. And three, you must not reveal your identity as a ranger to anyone else." Zordon's voice thundered across the Command Center.

Kim walked over to the newest member of the team and put stuck her hand out. "Welcome to the Power Rangers Team."

Casey reached over and took Kim's hand firmly. "Thank you." Casey stole a glace toward Adam, to find him looking at her intently. Casey caught him looking and he looked away abruptly, finding the floor of the Command Center all of a sudden, very interesting.

"Rita, come in here right now!" yelled Morgan, a hint of anger in her voice

"What is it? Can't you just let me catch a nap and meditate?" Rita screeches as she walked into the Throne Room yawning. Morgan was looking out the Balcony of the Lunar Palace. She stomped her foot angrily on the ground. Her eyes glistened with a hint of fury.

"Did you know that Dulcea had a daughter and she has sent her to help the rangers on Earth?" Morgan said as she turned around to face Rita.

"Am I suppose to know? How am I suppose to know if you don't even let me have my meditation? Of course I don't know!" Rita snapped.

Lord Zedd swaggered in, his staff at hand. "Neither of you have know about Casey? Humph, I have known for years. No one had been able to even get close to her because she was kept away from everyone. Dulcea had trained that girl to take her place as the Master Warrior of Phaedos." Zedd snickered at the two sisters.

"Why would she send her daughter to help the rangers against us if she wanted her to be kept secret?" asked Morgan.

"The legend that I have heard is that a ranger will defeat you when you think you are unstoppable. Now come to think of it, Casey just may be the one to stop you. " Zedd replied.

Morgan had a disgusted look on her face. It was a legend that she wanted to forget. "A ranger cannot defeat me I don't care what a legend says or what you say. You and Rita together cannot even defeat one ranger, nevertheless five. I am stronger than the both of you combined. I will defeat Dulcea’s daughter, the rangers, and Zordon. Then I will become the ultimate Queen of Evil." Morgan said as her evil laughter crackled through the room.

Just then, Goldar walked in the room with some news.

"The rangers are in the park, your evilness. Should we send down the tengas and catch them off guard? Or would you like to have Finster make a monster for them to fight?" Goldar asked.

"Go ahead and send the tengas. But I wouldn’t expect them to put so much as a dent to the rangers. However, it may wear them down a bit. Yes, send down the tengas and roughen them up a bit. Say it’s just my welcome invitation." Morgan said with a cold smile.

"Now Casey, let’s see if you are all that you claim to be." The lunar palace echoed with the sound of cold, evil, laughter.

"This is Angel Grove Park. It's a really nice place, we spend almost as much time here as the Juice Bar." Aisha explains as the group strolls around the park.

"My Mom was right, Earth is completely different from home. It has so much green and so much more people" Casey said as some kids ran by them laughing.

"When we were on Phaedos we didn't see anyone except Dulcea and that dried up corpse, if you count it as a person that is. We didn't even see you there. So what do you mean more people?" Rocky asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Oh, we have some people. We all live in tribes or villages scattered across the planet. We all look like you but the only difference is that form shifting comes naturally to any ninjetti." Casey explained to Rocky.

"Form shifting?" Tommy asked.

"Yeah. My Mother's totem animal is the owl. She can change from the form of a human to an owl any time she likes." Casey replied, turning her attention to Tommy.

"Incredible! We humans of Earth are limited to our current form." Billy responded.

"Does that mean you can turn into a cheetah any time you want now?" Adam asked.

"Yeah. I had already tried it a couple of times. I must say the strength of a cheetah is incredible." Casey responded, flashing a smile at Adam.

"Um, trouble? Big monkey and ugly birds?" Kimberly warned as she pointed her finger at the group standing in front of them.

"Looks like we have trouble." Tommy stated flatly.

"Hello. You must be Casey. I have heard a lot about you. I am here to send my greetings from my evilness, Morgan the Enchantress." growled Goldar, seizing his sword tightly in his oversized monkey paw.

"Thanks, but no thanks. I'd do better without it." Casey replied, falling into a fighting stance.

"Oh, too bad. Tengas, attack!" Goldar ordered as he pointed the sword at Casey and the tengas charged forward, squawking and screeching. Angel Grove civilians screamed in terror as they realized the situation. A family had left their picnic basket and blanket on the grass as they ran for their lives.

"Okay, who wants to be first?" Casey asked, gathering her fist for a power packed punch. A tenga on a suicidal mission headed for Casey, but before he can even scratch her, he felt intense pressure on his beak as Casey's fists pounded his face. The tenga collapsed into a heap, too dazed to even move. Two other tengas decided to gang up on Casey. Casey punched the one in front of her in the stomach and elbowed jabbed the one behind her. They stumbled back. The fight went on for a few more minutes until the tengas finally retreated.

"I'm outta here!" one squawked as it flapped its wings and hauled its feathered butt out of there. The rest followed quickly.

"Come back here, you numbskulls!" Goldar cried as he watched the tengas fly away, back to the Lunar Palace.

"It's your choice Goldar. There's five of us and only one of you. It looks as if your 'loyal' foot soldiers aren't so loyal after all." Tommy said as the group regrouped.

"Don't count on it rangers! I will be back, and you won't be so lucky next time!" Goldar growled, pointing his sword at the rangers.

"Yeah right! That's like to oldest line in the book! Try coming up with something new next time okay?" Aisha retorted. Goldar said nothing in reply, instead he teleported away in a ball of flame.

"Okay, what was that all about?" Casey asked, looking at Tommy.

"I don't know. I think Rita's sister Morgan was letting you know that she knows you're here." Tommy replied.

"Well, those. . . what do you call it? Oh, yeah, tengas! The tengas weren't so hard to fight." Casey stated.

"They are just peripherals. Rita, Zedd, and Morgan's main weapons are monsters which they send down to Earth, in an attempt to defeat us." Billy answered.

"Gee, so much for a peaceful afternoon walk. Is it always like this in Angel Grove?" asked Casey.

"Pretty much, yeah." Adam responded.

"Oh, boy. I think my stay here is going to be very interesting." Casey said dryly.
