"BY ACCEPTING THIS POWER YOU ARE ALSO ACCEPTING A GREAT RESPONSIBILITY, AND WE ARE STILL NOT SURE AT THIS TIME ON HOW YOUR BODY CHEMICAL WILL RESPOND TO THIS KIND OF ENERGY. SOME SIDE EFFECTS MAY OCCUR, ALTHOUGH THEY ARE MOST LIKELY TO BE TEMPORARY. SOME SIDE EFFECTS MIGHT BECOME PERMANENT THOUGH. HOWEVER, NINETY-NINE POINT NINE PERCENT OF THE PERMANENT SIDE EFFECTS SHOULD AID YOU IN THE FUTURE. ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO ACCEPT THE EMERALD RANGER POWER?"booms Zordon's voice.
"Positive."a clear firm voice replies.
"VERY WELL THEN, STEP FORWARD AND ACCEPT YOUR DESTINY."Zordon instructs. Slowly a female figure took two steps forward. Alpha 5 walks out of the shadows and hands a small, light green box to the mysterious figure. She slowly opens the box. Inside the box is a small emerald colored crystal in the shape of a six cornered star. The figure slowly reaches out and encloses the crystal into the palm of her hand. She close her eyes and concentrated. She could feel the crystal humming to her as if telling her what she must do to awake the dormant power that the crystal possesses. Suddenly she opens her eyes and knew what she has to do.
"The Tiger, strong and mighty!" she shouts as she clasps both hands around the crystal and holds it out straight in front to her. For a minute nothing happens, then suddenly a shower of emerald light fills the Command Center. Then slowly the light dies down. Standing in place of the figure is a person dressed in a light green ninja uniform with a black belt across her waist. The emerald crystal, now with the figure of a tiger inscribed on it, is somehow attached to center of the belt, with the figure of the tiger facing outward. A light green head band with an emerald gem in the center of it, circles around her forehead. Hoods conceal her mouth and the top and back part of her head.
"YOU ARE NOW OFFICIALLY THE EMERALD NINJA CRYSTAL RANGER. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO MORPH INTO YOUR RANGER UNIFORM WHEN YOU HOLD THE CRYSTALS INTO THE AIR. THE EMERALD CRYSTAL WILL ALSO CHANGE YOUR VOICE PATTERN, SO IT WILL BE EASIER FOR YOU TO CONCEAL YOUR TRUE IDENTITY. YOUR VOICE PATTERN WILL BE BACK TO NORMAL ONCE YOU POWER DOWN." explains Zordon.
"Did you say crystals? As in plural?" the Emerald Ranger asks.
"YES, ONCE THE MORPHING CALL IS SHOUTED OUT YOUR CRYSTAL WILL SPLIT INTO TWO SMALLER PIECES."
"Oh."
"YOU SHALL NOT CONTROL A ZORD FOR THE TIME BEING. THE EMERALD CRYSTAL ITSELF WILL DECIDE WHEN TO PROVIDE YOU THE MIGHTY EMERALD NINJA TIGER ZORD." Zordon explains.
"I WILL INTRODUCE YOU TO THE WHOLE TEAM IN A SHORT TIME IN A SHORT TIME. THE FULL CAPABILITY OF THE EMERALD RANGER POWER WILL BE REVEALED TO YOU AS YOUR BOND WITH THE CRYSTAL BECOMES STRONGER. AS TO BECOMING A RANGER, THERE ARE THREE BASIC RULES THAT YOU MUST FOLLOW. ONE, NEVER USE THE POWER FOR PERSONAL GAINS. TWO, NEVER ESCALATE A BATTLE UNTIL FORCED TO, AND THREE, YOU MUST ALWAYS KEEP YOUR IDENTITY AS A RANGER A SECRET. DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS?" asks Zordon.
"No." answers the figure
"Here is your communicator, this device will enable you to communicate with the Command Center and the other rangers, and it will also serve as a teleporter." quips Alpha as he hands her the communicator.
"Thank you." responds the figure.
"YOU MUST GO NOW. WE WILL NOTIFY YOU WHEN YOU ARE NEEDED, AND MAY THE POWER PROTECT YOU." says Zordon as she nods her head and teleports out in a steak of emerald light.
BRRIIIIINNNGGG!
"Okay, class dismissed." announces Ms. Applebee as the bell rang, signaling the end of the day.
"We're still going to the Youth Center this afternoon to study for the History test right?" asks Aisha as soon as the group got together.
"I can't make it today, I got this big science project that is due by the end of the week." Kat replies with a small sigh.
"Do you need any help with it?" asks Tommy
"No, that's okay. But thanks for offering though." Kat responds.
"So everyone besides Kat is going, right?" confirms Aisha.
"I think so." answers Tommy.
"Hey Adam, since you are done reading, can you quiz me on this lesson?" Aisha asks. It was later in the afternoon when the group gathers in the Youth Center to study for the History test. Aisha waits for a response, but none came. She looks up from her book and saw Adam staring at a girl that she had not seen before._ She must be new here._ Aisha thinks silently to herself. The girl has straight light brown hair and clear green eyes. She is dressed in a light green T-shirt and a pair of blue jeans. Not having the heart to interrupt him, she smiles a little to herself and turns her attention back into the book.
"I wonder who that girl is? I've never seen her around here before." wonders Adam five minutes later, when everyone's finished studying.
"Well, you are never going to find out until you ask her." answers Aisha.
"I'm not so sure if I am ready to ask her or not." Adam says nervously.
"It's going to be okay. Don't be shy about it, if you don't ask, you are never going to find out." Aisha encourages.
"Okay, I'll go introduce her to us." Adam agrees a bit reluctantly as he stands up and walked up to the girl.
"Hi." Adam greets. The girl turns around. She was roughly his height, only a bit shorter, but not much.
"Uh, hi." she responds
"Well, um, my name is uh, Adam Park, and yours?" Adam asks as he stumbles over the words. He mentally kicks himself for sounding so stupid.
"My name is Cassandra Jensen, but most people just call me Cass or Cassie " Cassandra replies.
"Um, nice to meet you Cassandra. Well, uh, my friends are um, sitting over on that table, would you like to, uh maybe, join us?" Adam stammers while playing with one of his shirt buttons nervously.
"Sure." Cassandra responds. Noticing his nervousness she gave him a warm smile. They walk up to where the others were sitting at, and starts to introduce each other.
"Uh, Cassandra, these are my friends. The one in white is Tommy. The one dressed in yellow is Aisha. Rocky, the one in the red shirt, the person on the far left, dressed in blue is Billy. And Katherine is not here right now." Adam introduces.
"Uh, nice to me you guys."Cassandra greets them.
"Guys, this is uh, Cassandra."
"Hi." everyone says in unison.
"Go ahead take a seat." Adam offers, as he gestured toward the empty seat where Kat usually sits.
"Thank You." Cassandra replies politely as she sits down.
"So, are you new here?" Tommy asks.
"Yes, I had just moved to Angel Grove two days ago." Cassandra responds.
"Where were you from originally?"
"I was from Louisville, Kentucky."
"Why did you move here?" Adam questions.
"My Dad was offered a job here in Angel Grove."Cassandra answers.
"So, uh what do you guys do around here?" Cassandra asks after a moment of silence.
"Well this is the Youth Center and we usually hangs around here practicing our martial art skills, doing our homework and other things that we like to do." Rocky replies.
"You guys are into Martial Arts?"Cassandra asks curiously.
"Sure, we got three black belt martial artists sitting right here." Aisha replies.
"Cool! I am a third degree black belt martial artist myself, and I am going to fourth degree next Friday!" Cassandra quips.
"That's nice." says Adam
"You know, by next Friday she'll be one degree higher than most of us sitting here." Rocky comments.
"What do you mean?" Cassandra asks.
"Well, I am a third degree black belt and so is Adam, Tommy is the only fourth degree black belt sitting here right now." explains Rocky
"Well I guess with four black belt martial artists sitting right here, that makes this table one of the safest in Angel Grove, huh?" Cassandra jokes. Everyone giggles a little at the joke. _ Well, looks like the tension is gone._ Adam thinks silently to himself as he looked around at everyone. They all seem to be enjoying each other.
"Well, uh, since you are new here, would you like to have a mini tour around this area of Angel Grove?" offers Adam.
"Sure, that'll do wonders for me." answers Cassandra with a big grin on her face.
"Okay then, I'll see you guys later." says Adam as both of them stood up and starts to head out the door.
"Have fun!" says Aisha.
"Looks like the love bug got Adam." Aisha observes as soon as the two of them are out of the Youth Center.
"What do you mean by that?" Tommy asks
"Boy, haven't you seen the look on his face? He was staring at her through most of the conversation! And before that, I asked Adam to quiz me on lesson two, since he's done reading it. When he didn't respond I looked up and found him staring at Cassandra when she's just walked in the door." explains Aisha.
"Sounds like Adam is having it bad for her." says Rocky.
"We don't want to jump into conclusions just yet, maybe Adam just wants to make an acquaintance with Cassandra." suggests Billy.
"Well, maybe, but not likely though." says Aisha.
"So, uh, are you going to Angel Grove High?" Adam asks as they are walking through the park.
"Yep, tomorrow is going to be my first day there." Cassandra replies.
"My friends go there too. Well, uh, anyway do you want me to help you out a bit school tomorrow, you know like getting to classes and stuff? I mean, it's a quite big school." offers Adam.
"Sure, that will be really helpful, but you don't have to do this if it's going to disrupt your schedule or anything." Cassandra says.
"Oh, no, not at all." Adam replies quickly.
"Okay then, do you mind if we meet outside of the principle's office at seven thirty tomorrow morning? Because that's were I am going to pick up my schedule and my locker number." says Cassandra.
"Sure. That'll be just fine." replies Adam.
"So, uh, what are the tea—" before Cassandra could finish, a flock of Tengas appears.
"Oh man! Not now!" Adam exclaims as he falls into a fighting stance.
"What are these things?" Cassandra cries out as she follows Adam example.
"They're Tengas." Adam replies.
"How do we get rid of them?" Cassandra asks as she trips a Tenga.
"You don't, you keep hitting them until they retreat." Adam responds as he ducks a punch. _Why do they have to show up now? Man, I wish I can morph and get this over with!_ Adam thought silently to himself. Without his power he is going down fast.
"Adam!" Cassandra yells as she flips away from an oncoming Tenga. "I am going to—" she pauses as she gave a Tenga a kick in the stomach "— get the others okay?"
"Okay, be careful!" Adam yells back. _ And I can finally morph now._ he adds silently to himself.
Cassandra gave one final punch in a Tengas beak before running off to find the others. When Cassandra reached a nearby tree, she pauses, and turns around to see how Adam is holding up. She gasped as Adam yelled the incantation and turned into the Black Ninjetti. _ So he is the Black Ranger!_ Cassandra thought to herself. _Well, if he is going to do it that way, then I better help him. The Tengas are still going to overwhelm him, even with his power._ With that thought, she quickly scanned the area to make sure that no one is there, and took out the Emerald Crystal.
"Emerald Ninja Ranger Power now!" shouts Cassandra as she clasped both hands around the crystal and held it out straight in front of her. Within seconds, she transformed into the Emerald Ninja Ranger. As soon as the transformation is complete, she ran to help Adam.
"Need a hand?" asks the Emerald Ranger as soon as she reached the scene.
"Huh?" replies Adam in confusion as turned toward the sound of the unfamiliar voice. A Tenga takes advantage of Adam's momentary hesitation and tackles him. An 'Oomph' escapes from him.
"Uh, I take that as a yes." says the Emerald Ranger as she kicks a Tenga in the stomach.
"Who are you?" Adam asks as soon as he regained his posture.
"I am the Emerald Ranger." answers the Emerald Ranger nonchalantly, as she gives a mighty kick to the nearest Tenga and sends it sprawling to the ground.
"It time to finish this fight. Emerald Power Storm!" commands the Emerald Ranger. Soon a swirl of wind circles the two rangers. The force of the wind picked the Tengas off of their feet and swirled them into the small tornado. The Tengas had enough. They soon retreated.
"Emerald Storm, Power Down!" commands the Emerald Ranger as soon as the Tengas left. Adam stood amazed at what had just happened. He surveys the area and found that the tornado had vanished without a trace, and not a piece of debris is left on the ground.
"I must go now." says the Emerald Ranger breaking his train of thoughts.
"Will I ever see you again?" asks Adam.
"I will aid the ranger in battle whenever it is necessary, but I must leave now, my job here is done." replies the Emerald Ranger as she turns, took five steps and then vanishes into a cloud of emerald mist. Adam stood there mesmerized, staring at the spot where the Emerald Ranger was seconds ago.
"Hey Adam! Are you all right? We got here as soon as we could after we got the call from Zordon." asks Rocky suddenly.
"Huh? Oh, hi guys. Um, I fine." replies Adam, snapping out of the trance.
"Guess you didn't need us anymore." observes Rocky looking around.
"Uh, we took care of the problem." Adam agrees.
"We?" Billy questions.
"Well, Cassandra and I were walking through the park and suddenly a bunch of Tengas showed up and started attacking us. Since Cassandra was here, I couldn't morph in front of her. We fought together, but little by little the Tengas were gaining an upper hand on us, and Cassandra must have noticed it, because she ran off to get you guy. After she left, I morphed and continued the fight. Then suddenly this ranger in a light green ninja suit showed up and helped me out. She called herself the Emerald Ranger. We fought together for a few minutes and suddenly she called up this Power Storm. And the next thing I knew was this miniature tornado swirling around us picking the Tengas off of their feet. Soon the tornado overwhelmed the Tengas and they retreated as usual. After the Tengas left, the Emerald Ranger said something about helping us in battle whenever it is necessary, and with that she disappeared in a cloud of green mist." reports Adam.
"I must say, it sounds very peculiar." observes Billy.
"Guys, we still need to find Cassandra. She ran off to find you guys, so she should be at the Youth Center right about now. We don't want to get her worried." says Adam, as he and the others powered down.
"Come on lets go. We need to find Cassandra." instructs Tommy. With that they all headed back to the Youth Center.
I better get to the Youth Center quickly, or else they might start to suspect something._ thinks Cassandra as she jogs her way back to the Youth Center. When she saw the Youth Center, she starts to run faster, she wants to make it as believable as she could that she had been trying to get help. She blew the door, she found the others are already there waiting for her.
"A-Adam? What are you doing here? Are you okay?" asks Cassandra pretending to be out of breath.
"Yeah sure. I'm fine. Just little scratches here and there." answers Adam.
"Bu-but how did you manage to escape?" asks Cassandra in wonder.
"I uh, had a little help. My friends were walking through the park when they heard fighting sounds. Together we fought the Tengas until they left." answers Adam.
"Well, uh, I am glad that you are okay." says Cassandra, as she smiled to herself.
"So, what took you so long?" asks Adam
"I, uh, sort of got lost." says Cassandra sheepishly.
"Well, at least you made it." says Rocky.
"Yup. And by the way who are you? My name is Cassandra Jensen."introduces Cassandra while looking as Kat.
"My name is Katherine Hillard, but most people call me Kat. It's a pleasure to meet you." replies Kat.
"Oh, so you are the one that Adam was talking about earlier. Anyway, it's a pleasure to meet you too." says Cassandra.
"Hey Cassandra, do you want to stay for a smoothie?" asks Aisha
"Uh, no thanks. I have to go now, I still have a lot of unpacking to do. So, I guess, I'll see you guys tomorrow then. Bye!" says Cassandra as she starts out of the door.
"Okay, bye Cass!" says Adam. Cassandra turns around and gives him a small smile and then resumes walking.
Adam walks through the main hallway playing with his fingers. He is going to the principal's office to meet with Cassandra. When he got there, she was already by the door waiting for him.
"Hi, sorry I'm late." says Adam nervously.
"No, actually you are right on time." replies Cassandra while looking at her watch. She notices the tenseness in his voice.
"Adam are you all right? You sound really nervous." asks Cassandra.
"I'm fine, really." replies Adam after a moment of hesitation. Cassandra didn't really believe him but noticing his reluctance to answer, she politely lets the matter drop.
"So, what is you locker number?"asks Adam.
"Three-oh-six." replies Cassandra.
"Really? I think that locker is four locker spaces from mine. Come on, let go take a look." Adam calls out as he starts down the hall. Cassandra follows quietly behind Adam, trying to memorize the hallways.
"Gee, how big is this school? I don't think my last school was one fourth as big as this one." comments Cassandra.
"We're almost there." says Adam.
"This is going to take at least a week for me to memorize all of these hallways." observes Cassandra.
"Hey, a week is not bad, it took me about a month to get use to this school." replies Adam
"Ah, here it is, locker three-oh-six." says Adam as he shows her the locker.
"Um, where's yours?" asks Cassandra.
"Mine is three-oh-two, right over here." answers Adam as he points to his locker. Cassandra takes off her back pack and starts to up the text books that the principal had given to her into the locker.
"Can I see your schedule for a minute?" asks Adam.
"Sure." replies Cassandra as she gave the piece of paper to him.
"Let see you have first hour history with Ms. Applebee with me, third hour science with Mr. Johnson with me, fourth hour creative writing with Ms. Applebee, six hour Algebra with Mr. McTerren, and seventh hour German, with Ms. LaRaenski with me."
"So that means the only the periods that I don't have classes with you is second, fifth." observes Cassandra.
"Well, it appears that way." says Adam.
"Cool." replies Cassandra, grinning from ear to ear.
"Well, let's get to class before the tardy bell rings." says Adam as the two of them walk off.
