UNISONS BEYOND TIME

Zordon contacted Hawkman recently about an a great power that had a lot to do with Thanagar's ancient past, which had somehow wound up on Earth, in it's past.

"Hawkman, you were telling me about something called a mental resonator that was called 'The Seven Hells.' What type of power-did this produce?"

"In the hands of warring tribes at the time, 'The Seven Hells' ran off the brainwaves of the user, turning those waves into a deadly force of excruciating pain, able to rip entire armies of people to shreds. Fortunately, this device was deemed too destructive for one person to keep, so it was dismantled, and the three pieces were sent into space, where no one could find them. Why do you ask?" Hawkman asked.

"Because, all three pieces have gone back through time, between what is now Scotland and Ancient Ireland. During that time, an evil queen, Maeve, was at war with a kingdom called Kells. If she gets her hands on that device she could change the history of our world as we know it. You and the Rangers, along with the rest of the League, will have to go back into time to find these pieces, and destroy them."

"When do we start?"

"I'll summon the Rangers, and you'll start as soon as possible. The Geo Rangers and the Thundercats are with Young Justice fighting the Female Furies. Have the League come here to the Command Center." Zordon told him.

Within the hour, Hawkman had summoned Hawkwoman, Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman, Isis, Flash, Black Canary, Green Lanterns Hal Jordan & Kyle Rayner, and 3 Power Ranger teams. Jamie Zedden, the Purple Zeo Ranger, asked "How powerful is this…'seven hells' thing? I mean, are we talking Rita, Mondo, and the Legion of Dada as they're calling themselves now, or something worse than that?"

"Jamie, we're talking about them, plus some of that timeframe's vilest fiends, all after that psionic resonator, and in those hands ... I don't need to elaborate on that, do I?" Hawkman told everyone.

"The Zeo & Lightstar teams will stay here. The Geo Rangers and Young Justice are busy with a case of their own right now, and the Thundercats, are helping superman piece Metropolis back together after the last attack from the Machine Empire and a new ally of Mondo's, Divatox. Your help is needed here." Zordon told the 2 teams of Rangers.

"Meaning this is a job for the Morphin Rangers? In that case, Little bro, be alert, and be careful." David Truehart, the Red Zeo Ranger, told Tommy Oliver, the White Morphin Ranger, who then asked Zordon "What type of place is, or was, this 'Kells'?

"It was a land steered in magic and change, with wizards, sorceresses, fairies, dragons, all part of Irish folklore. I know that I have told all of you that for the most parts, Earth is and was devoid of magic, but, as with the Amazons of Themyscira, and the Olympian gods, there are exceptions. Speaking of ' which, Diana, you were angry about something that Metron of the New Genesisian 'New Gods' told you, that the gods you worship sprang from them." Zordon told heir,

"Yes. It's just incredibly…" Wonder Woman began.

"…a pack of lies, told by an idiot, who wouldn't know what a true god was if he was struck down by Chronos, the Titans of Myth, the Olympian Gods, and all other pantheons most definitely came before those Apokoliptian and New Genesian travesties who call themselves 'gods'. Ignore it as a catty remark by a complete idiot and move on." Zordon advised her.

"About these 'Mystic Knights'" ... Jason Lee Scott, the Red Ranger asked.

"In a strange way, they were your predecessors, defending Kells from Maeve's evil creatures & concoctions. Any remnants of her kingdom, and ultimately, her final fate are lost to the winds of history. The Knights were Rohan, Mystic Knight of Fire, the unofficial leader of the team, Princess Deidre, Mystic Knight of Air, Ivar Mystic Knight of Water, Angus, Mystic Knight of Earth, and two recent additions, Coleen, Mystic Knight of Energy, and Siobhan, Mystic Knight of Nature. Maeve was always trying to destroy them and Kells. If she gets her hands on that psionic resonator, it could fatally change history. It must be found, and soon."

Billy asked "When do we start?"

"As soon as we achieve the proper harmonics to open a time portal with the chronogem. That way, we can safely send you back in time to retrieve the psionic resonator and make sure that no one can ever use it ever again. But first, I have also contacted some help from Crossworld City..." Zordon started.

"The VR Troopers?" Samantha Dean finished.

"Exactly. The Lightstar Rangers will defend CrossWorld in their stead until they return with you." Zordon finished. As if on cue, 3 teleportation beams shot into the Command Center, which then solidified into 3 teenagers, a bit older than the Ranger and apparently used to bizarre situations. The three introduced themselves as Ryan Steele, Kaitlin Starr, and JB Reese, aka Blue Trooper, White Trooper, and Black Trooper. Ryan asked "Ready to go?"

"Harmonics achieved. It is now time." Zordon stated. With that, Zordon sent Cassie Chan, Ashley Hammond, TJ Carter, Carlos Vargas, Andros, & Zhane to Crossworld City to protect it, while Kat Hilliard, Tanya Sloan, Rocky DeSantos, Adam Park, David Truehart, Jamie Zedden, & Trey also stayed behind to watch Angel Grove. As for the Morphin Rangers, they and their fellow Justice Leaguers, along with the VR Troopers went back in time to rescue history.

Not too far away from Kells, a medieval prison held the worst murderers, thieves, rapists, and the like had a suprise, unexpected visitor: Xena, Warrior Princess.

"I only want 2 of you, Darnelle, and Glaphyra. The rest of you, stay where you are, don't even try to follow me, or, and I promise this, you WILL regret it! Let's go, you two!" With that, she took the 2 criminals she wanted, and disappeared as quickly as she came.

As the three joined two other people waiting for them, a flash of rainbow-colored light appeared, which then faded to reveal our time-travelling heroes. "Xena? What are you doing here?" Trini Kwan, the Yellow Ranger asked, very suprised.

"Trini? What are you doing here in this ... timeframe, you call it? You usually don't travel back in time for trouble, do you?" Xena asked.

"We've got some problems, mainly a psionic resonator called 'the Seven Hells'. We have to stop a woman named Maeve from getting her hands on this. Trouble is, it's in three pieces, and we have no idea where to look for the first piece." Trini told her.

"Glaphyra, Wasim & I wanna know who are these people, and should we even care?" Darnelle spat out.

Gabrielle snarled back "Ask me if I even worry about you caring or not. Trini, We are about to stop a would-be warlord from crafting indestructable weapons. You see, "A would-be warlord, Agemmon, has joined forces with an evil queen, Maeve, to create a unbreakable metal, which weapons could be crafted. Maeve herself is working with someone who isn't one of my favorite gods…Ares." Xena snarled.

Wonder Woman frowned "Xena, you've had some grief with that warmongering filth as we have in our era ... wait, did you mention a woman named Maeve?"

Xena frowned "Yeah, why?"

"That's who we have to get this psionic resonator from. If she gets her hands on that thing, she could easily destroy Kells, and thus change the history of the world as we know it. Since it looks like we're all after the same woman, how about some help?" Jason asked.

"I'd love to. We're probably going to need all the help we can get here. Count me in on this." Xena spoke very plainly.

"Who is this 'Maeve?' She sounds like my kind of woman!" Darnelle said wickedly.

"From what I've read about her, 'your type of woman' would use you up, spit you out, and hang you out to dry in the wind, and not worry about it one way or the other." Billy Cranston frowned.

"To hell with Darnelle, he's a pig! Besides, I've got a personal score to settle with Maeve myself. I want in." Glaphyra frowned.

"Good thing we're all sympatico on this: Kells dead ahead." Zack Taylor piped up.

"Cathbad's time has come and gone as an advisor and druid. He really should step down and let a younger druid take over." a frowning young man named Angus spoke up.

Rohan smirked at his friend. "Who would you have take his place? You?!?"

Siobhan shook her head in disgust. "If that ever happens, we can kiss Kells goodbye and trash the castle.

Coleen agreed. " I could not possibly think of anything worse than that happening!"

Ivar added "'There is possibly one thing worse: Angus becomes king!"

This brought a major blast from Princess Deidre. "Never! I'll destroy Kells myself before that happens!"

A booming voice interrupted the "Oddly dressed strangers outside the castle walls! Shall we intercept them?"

"No, we'll handle this!" Rohan shouted, taking charge,

"Um, how will they greet us? With weapons or what?" Kaitlin asked.

Batman shouted "Looks like we're about to find out! Mystic Knights at 1:00!"

Angus shouted "Who are you, friend or foe?"

"Knock it off, Angus, you're not impressing anyone talking like that." Xena snarled.

Kimberly Hart spoke up. "Before this goes any further, we're from the future. We're the Justice League of America, and ...

"There is no such land as 'America', as you call it!" Angus snarled.

"For the sake of the Morrigan, Angus, SHUT UP! Did she not say they were from the future? I sense she is telling the truth! From the future, you say?" Deidre asked with great interest.

"Yeah, and if Maeve gets her hands on this weapon, both our future and your present are totally trashed. We've got to stop her. Anyplace that we can go to plan an attack and stop her and ... what's his name?" Kim asked.

"Agamennon. We don't have that much time. We have to end his plans now. Can we count on your help, Mystic Knights?" Xena asked.

Ivar was confused. "How do you know of us?"

Gabrielle smiled. "Your reputation has been spreading throughout the area. Will you help us out here?"

"We shall." Rohan declared.

"Of course." added Ivar & Colleen

Siobhan smiled "Naturally."

Deidre quickly added her approval. Only Angus wasn't too thrilled with these new developments. "How do we trust these ... 'people"? Are they really who they say they are?"

Rohan frowned as Xena snapped "Angus, get a life. Tommy, has your tracking device gotten anything on your 'resonator' or Maeve yet?"

"Possible lock on the resonator... 90 to 94 miles from here. And it's not my device. That would belong to the guy dressed like a giant black bat over here." Tommy told her very quickly.

Jason told everyone "We know where to go now, and if they find out what they could have, bye-bye Earth! Let's roll!"

As they started of in their northwestern direction, Gabrielle was talking with Wonder Woman & Trini about a question she had apparently asked Xena earlier and didn't have an answer then. Trini frowned "I can't believe this is really bothering you like this."

"Trini's right. I mean, we're not always the sum of all our experiences."

Gabrielle stopped Wonder Woman before she could say anything else. after a power hungry queen, stopping a would-be warlord, all of that would have never happened…or would I have never even imagined doing 2 years ago. So, I still have to wonder: am I who I am, or what Xena made me?"

A fireball from the sky quickly changed any other thoughts right then.

"What the hell was that?!?" Flash shouted.

"Maeve's welcoming committee. Her 3-headed dragon, Tyrune. My question is, what are those with it?" Ivar yelled.

What popped up next seemed to be a grab bag of putties, tengas, skugs, and some of the newly formed Legion of Dada out to cause grief and try to find the resonator.

"Enough reflection time, everyone! Time to go to work!" Xena shouted.

In seconds… Ryan, JB, & Kaitlin: TROOPER TRANSFORM! Rohan: THE FIRE WITHIN ME! Deidre: THE AIR ABOVE ME! Ivar: THE WATER BENEATH ME! Angus: THE EARTH BELOW ME! Siobhan: NATURE AROUND ME! Coleen: THE ENERGY INSIDE ME! along with the Rangers' usual charges ... TIGERZORD! MASTODON! PTERODACTYL! TRICERATOPS! SABER-TOOTH TIGER! STEGOSAURUS! TYRRANNOSAUROUS!

In seconds it was on, fast furious. Mirror Master and a group of' skugs charged towards Gabrielle & the Troopers. Big mistake Smashing his mirror-gun with her staff, Gabrielle kicked and slammed him all over the place, leaving the skugs to their old enemies, the VR Troopers, who promptly trashed them every way to sunday.

Tengas tried to surround the Mystic Knights, but were soon on the recieving end of a major beating, with help from a reluctant Glaphyra, who slashed a deadly swath through the bird-creatures. As for the Knights, using the forces of fire, wind, water, earth, nature, & energy, toasted their remaining tengas.

Darnelle, Batman, Robin, & both Green Lanterns dealt with Clayface, Scarecrow, Elgar, and more tengas. Darnelle finished them off as best as he could, leaving the Scarecrow to the Dark Knights, who stayed one step ahead of the Master of Fear at all times, then just ended the fight with 2 well-placed uppercuts to the jaw.

Clayface tried to imprison the ringslingers in a hastily-created clay prison. Bad planning on his part, it was soon trashed, as was his escape.

Flash, Hawkwoman, Hawkman, Black Canary, Isis, & Xena polished off several putties and Goldar who remembered the last time Xena knocked the stuffing out of him, and was itching for a rematch. It did the winged ape no good: the outcome was the same as before, he got his butt kicked.

Jason, Tommy, Samantha, & Billy threw more putties & tengas into each other, then went after the Cheetah one of Wonder Woman's foes. Not expecting the level of skill from the Rangers in fighting, the Cheetah was overwhelmed.

Ever since they joined the JLA, Kimberly, Zack, & Trini had formed an amazing bond with Wonder Woman, which had begun to show up in their fighting styles. Zack had taught WW some of his Hip Hop Kido, and Kim gave her some gymnastic skill as well, while Trini helped her get the maximum effect with the least effort. For her part, the 3 Rangers could now punch & kick harder, and knew some Greco-Roman fighting styles, along with an unique Amazonian form of martial art. This was used in trashing Scorpina, Cluemaster, and a rather pathetic attempt by Rita to create a bizarro Wonder Woman. Scorpina made one suprise attempt to finish the 4, but was on the recieving end of Trini's own chakram, knocking her out, for the duration this time. "Let's see what these turkeys know about this. If Rita's sending her fellow creeps back, she must know what we're after." Trini told everyone.

"Let's lasso the ringleader here, that of course being Scorpina, and find out." Zack frowned. On hearing this, she began to run, but WW was ready. Twirling her Magic Golden Lasso over her head, she threw it with masterful aim, nailing Scorpina with one shot.

Wonder Woman spoke "No one can resist the Golden Lasso. It ensnares all those it encircles, and compels them to tell the truth."

Jason agreed. "And I couldn't think of a better time to get some answers. Scorpina, does Rita know about the resonator's power?"

"NoNoneseyess… Scorpina tried to resist, but the power was too strong.

"Does Maeve have it?" Tommy demanded.

" ... yes, but she doesn't know what she has, To her, it is...just ... another plaything. She has absolutely no idea of the power she holds, so she and this..,Agemmon sleaze can create these new …weapons."

Xena asked "Can these weapons be destroyed?"

"Yes, but ... only by being thrown back into the flames that forged them, in an armory just outside Maeve's castle."

"Is the area well-guarded?" Batman asked.

Maeve's own forces, along with cogs and Quantrons."

"Along with those-, sorcerous powers her runestone gives her!" Rohan added.

"Time to put an end to these 2 wannabe gods. Where's Wasim?" Gabrielle asked.

Glaphyra snorted angrily "Knowing that useless rat, he probably changed sides."

"Maeve's kingdom is a day's Jorney, but with my skills over nature, I can have us there in a matter of 10 minutes." Isis finished.

"Scorpina, we can best do this if we don't have any unexpected suprises or warnings to your boss. So ... your memories are about to become ... very unreliable." Wonder Woman told the villains, then made them all forget everything they knew about their mission.

Within minutes, they were at the armory where the new weapons were being crafted. "I'll deal with Maeve! "Isis yelled.

Inside the gloomy castle, Maeve bellowed "Speak, what is our status?"

"Your majesty, the strangers are defeating our forces with ease, the Mystic Knights are aiding the strangers and a amazing warrior woman with a sword and other weapon which she seems to be skilled in all of their uses ... "

Maeve quickly paled. "XENA! Those cursed Mystic Knights weren't bad enough, now she has to interfrere! Well, they won't go any further! Runestone, come to my side, and send to me ..." she started.

One lightning bolt promptly ended that, destroying the stone. Another blast sent all 3 pieces of the resonators into her hands. Maeve snarled "Who are you ... wait. one of the strange ones. Well, you won't go any further! I still have some mystic power and I can find another runestone."

"Save it, Maeve. You're too late, and your attempts to destroy Kells are doomed. As for your efforts to help this Agemmon create these weapons, that plan's been trashed too." Isis sneered at Maeve, and vanished with the resonator. Maeve had a major setback and did not appreciate it at all.

Wonder Woman, Zack, Trini, Kimberly, Tommy, Xena, Darnelle, Glaphyra, and Gabrielle trashed the armory while the others took care of the guards posted outside. "What do we do with these things?" Glaphyra asked. There were all sorts of crossbows, daggers, swords, hammers and other items.

"Toss 'em back into the furnace!" Xena shouted. Once this was done, the furnace was closed off. "Everyone, clear out, NOW!" Tommy shouted.

"Hold it!" Agemmon bellowed. He had entered just as they had covered the furnace with a giant boulder. "You think you can trash my weapons and get away with this? Never! You are finished!"

"Yeah, right. Such a big man, trying to follow in Ares' footsteps. You are a complete loser. Time to end this." Xena snarled. "Tommy, get the others out of here NOW!"

Tommy got everyone else together. "Zack, have everybody get the hell away from here, and don't worry, Xena & I won't be too far behind. GO!"

Wonder Woman got the others out, then raced back to get Tommy & Xena. "Make sure everyone is as far away from here, this place is gonna blow!" she told Trini.

Xena & Agemmon faced off. He hurled his weapon, while she threw her chakram. The two weapons hit each other in midair. The chakram, unharmed, returned to Xena's hand, while Agemmon's weapon was broken into 3 pieces, and struck him between the eyes, into his brain, killing him instantly.

The furnace began to rumble. Wonder Woman raced in, shouting, "Party's over, guys, let's GO!" grabbing the two and flying as fast as she could, getting them as far away from the armory as possible.

Once everyone was far away from it, the building went up in a huge fireball, putting a end to the weapons and Maeve's schemes for the time being.

"Looks like all 3 pieces of the 'Seven Hells' are here. Shall we?" Jason asked.

Hawkman said "The sooner we destroy this thing, the better. That way, no one can get their hands on this thing, ever. Lanterns, if you may?"

"Our pleasure." Hal Jordan told him. Soon, 2 Emerald beams struck all three pieces of the resonator, turning them into molten useless rock & ash. Hal frowned "That takes care of that. Time to get back, people."

Darnelle looked at the assorted heroes. "OK, I'm not saying I'm going to stay on the straight and narrow, but you have given me a lot to think about. You going east?" he asked Glaphyra.

"It's good a direction as any. Besides, I think I can put up with the company ... for while. Thanks, all of you." Glaphyra smiled at the time traveling heroes. Turning back to Darnelle, she smiled at him. "Let's go."

"Don't go falling in love with me now."

"I'd rather kiss a toad!"

"Well, that's a start."

As the 2 former criminals made their exit, The Mystic Knights made theirs. "We'd best return to Kells. Maeve may be out of commission for now, but she may still cause some devilment. Time we made our leave. So long Xena, Gabrielle. And you, heroes from the future, take care." Rohan smiled.

Ivar, Deidre, Coleen, & Siobhan also wished everyone well. Only Angus remained silent. "Don't mind Angus. He was born an ass, and will probably die the same way." Deidre spoke as she and the other Knights returned to Kells.

With that, the time portal opened up, ready to return the JLA back to their own timeframe. "Well, you started off with 3, and redeemed 2. Pretty damn good. Man, it was great seeing you again." Trini smiled at her ancestor.

"It was great to see you too, And the rest of the JLA. With one exception, I see. Am I ever going to meet him?" Xena asked.

"Never say never. But our Superman is a. busy guy. You never know. Take care." Trini quickly hugged her, then joined the others as the portal grew.

Xena & Gabrielle waved as the 20 heroes jumped back through the portal.

"Quite a group, aren't they?" Gabrielle asked

"That they are. Meanwhile, I have that answer to your question you asked me earlier, then asked Wonder Woman & Trini: Are you who you are, or what I made you?" Xena told her.

"And?"

"You're Gabrielle. Bard, Amazon Princess, Best Friend. Nobody made you what you are, those qualities were already there. The question is 'Just who would I be without you?'" Xena asked then started down the path.

Gabrielle thought for one second, then joined her, saying "I can answer that. You'd still be heroic Xena. You were already on that path when we met."

"Are you kidding, without you to keep me on the straight & narrow…"

"You'd have managed. Just not as well"
